Vipassana Day Retreat — Friday, 4th April 2025

Unplug and disconnect from stimuli, overload and all the many responsibilities you have in a day at our Vipassana Day Retreat at the Holy Name Spiritual Centre in Cheltenham.

Our Jan Juc May Retreat and both Sri Lanka Retreats are now full. However, for those of you who can’t manage a night away, we are holding a Vipassana Day Retreat on Friday 4th of April. Your wellbeing is worth a day off to unplug and disconnect from stimuli, overload and all the many responsibilities that you have in a day.

This day retreat allows you the opportunity to find moments of stillness that you can hopefully cultivate into your daily life for health and wellbeing. Our roads our evidence of how busy and rushed people are. This is not a natural way of existence.

The Community of The Holy Name Spiritual Centre is in Cheltenham (close by). It has beautiful grounds for mindful walking and a quiet peaceful centre to hold yoga and meditation.

Vipassana Retreats are ideally run over 7 days with silence. I feel this is too much for anyone who isn’t used to quiet time. Therefore a day retreat is doable and enjoyable at the same time and provides you the skills to be able to cope with further more intense practices if you choose.

The day will consist of the following:

  • An introduction to the day ahead.

  • Restorative yoga.

  • Mindful walking throughout the grounds.

  • Mindful eating to experience proper digestion.

  • Journalling, reading and rest.

  • Meditation.

  • Finishing with Q&A and group discussion.

Louise has travelled to the South of France to Plum Village; the home of Thich Nhat Hanh who is known as the godfather of mindfulness. Experiencing the path with monks, nuns, sisters and participants from around the world was an incredible day. A taste of how we can adopt mindfulness into our daily lives, walking, eating and communicating is what she would like to share at this 1 day retreat.

Like all of our retreats, the day is yours. You may like to just read in the gardens for the morning sessions or use this day for a fast. It’s essentially about giving your body what it needs.

UPDATE 3rd March 2025 - Bookings for the Vipassana Day Retreat are now full. Please look out for our future retreats.
