Louise Godfrey - sriYoga & Meditation

Louise’s vision and values at sriYoga

Louise Godfrey founded Brighton’s sriYoga & Meditation in 2004 after many years of study and training in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya. Her vision was to build a boutique style studio for yoga in Brighton where health, healing and connection was at the heart of all services offered. She has dedicated the last 20 years to learn and share the profound and rich teachings of yoga in the most authentic way. It has always been essential to Louise to create an environment that nurtures, cares and is open and friendly for everyone and anyone to enjoy, demystifying the belief that yoga is for flexible women. This ethos is shared amongst all the teachers at sriYoga.

Louise’s passion is yoga therapy and has worked with many individuals who have a wide range of health conditions and ailments to bring them back to balance and wellbeing. She spoke at the Australian Integrative Medical Association in 2012, is recommended by GP’s, psychologists and other Allied Health practitioners and has trained many yoga teachers over the last 10 years in the foundations of yoga therapy.

Her continued vision is to build on what stands today – a Brighton-based community Health Centre that promotes and actively shares in the improvement of every member’s lifestyle, health and contentment.

With experienced teachers you can trust

Louise Godfrey, Kate Oliver and Denise Duprat have been fortunate to have all been trained in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya who was one of the great yogis of the modern era.

T. Krishnamacharya lived until he was 100 years old and his teachings are well known around the world. His son T.K.V. Desikachar was the teacher of Barbara Brian (Āgamā Yoga Centre for health and healing in Middle Park) who trained and mentored both Louise and Kate. Denise is also trained in the same lineage but received her studies in her birth country Argentina.

All three teachers are dedicated to providing the most authentic teachings and disciplines of yoga that uphold the fundamental theory that yoga must adapt to the individual in a group or private setting.
